The Robusta coffee bean grows on a shrub or tree at sea level or up to an altitude of 800 metres primarily in Western Africa and Southeast Asia. This type of coffee tree is hardier and less susceptible to illnesses, heat and humidity. Furthermore it bears more cherries which ripen more quickly. The aroma is wooden and earthy. The bean has a thick and full body with a level of caffeine of 2 to 2.7%.
