This process takes place in numerous steps.
After delivery of the green coffee to the processing center, the beans are first separated from the cherry and then further processed using the wet or dry method. After this the coffee is dried and stored in wooden silos.
Then the beans are sorted according to size, weight and colour before being transported in sacks, big bags, containers or – if very valuable coffee- in barrels.
There are numerous certificates for good coffee practice on the market such as Specialty coffee, Transfair-Fairtrade, Utz Kapeh, Rainforest Alliance and Sustainable Harvest.
