Coffeehouse 20. April 2011

Welcome @ Poetry Café!

A posting from Poetry Café

We have been looking forward to the day we can present our new Poetry Cafe to you – and here it is. We hope you will like it as much as we do and become a future reader and poetry fan!

Julius Meinl is more than caffeine and taste. It is a piece of  culture. Taking time to have a cup of coffee is part of the way of life in Vienna. It is a moment in which you open yourself for inspiration.

The reason for this is easy to explain: Vienna is fertile ground for creativity and inspiration. The metropolis of culture on an interesting tightrope walk between tradition and contemporary life: from the Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year concert to the Vienna festival week, from the Schönbrunn Imperial Palace to the modern Museumsquartier, from the Vienna Opera to the modern Festival of dance. From the Heuriger to the Vienna coffee house – forever the place of inspiration. A place for poets, writers and artists. In short: a place for poetry.

Students from Stanford made this movie which emphasizes this point: the coffeehouse as a place of inspiration:

With our topics in Poetry Cafe we want to lead you into the world of creative thoughts. Our eyes are open to see poetry in the everyday and to share it here with you at Poetry Cafe. We hope to inspire you and, being inspired, you inspire your friends.

The Poetry Cafe – a short guide.

On the start page you can see the latest article from the Magazine. In “Everyday Poetry” you have an overview of poetry in other channels such as YouTube and Twitter. We have created an instagram account which shows live photos of people, plants or funny things – all discovered in the everyday. The latest pictures are featured at the bottom of the Home page. Under “Events” you can find a collection of current happenings, which will inspire you and bring everyday poetry alive. The link “share poetic findings with us” enables you to share your personal everyday poetry with us, which we will happily post under your name.

Any questions you may have – please contact us per e-mail or on Twitter.

We would like to inspire you and, being inspired, you inspire others!
