The gist of the matter!

A posting from Poetry Café

Poetry and ecologic sustainability are the core values of designer-trio Pudelskern. They strongly believe in the necessity to add more layers to a design. Also they like to tell stories with the objects they design or create. They can be about sustainable production, hand-craft techniques or material aspects.

With their projects they tell stories like the one about “Granny”: Granny is knitting, while listening to your newst stories and sorrows. She offers you hot chocolate so you’ll get warm again and recover from the cold of the winter. She reads fairy tales to the kids and should remind you about your own happy childhood.

“Tabula Rasa” is another Pudelskern product which has a story to tell: it’s not a mere table but a living object which tells us about the design process. With time and use it changes it’s form because it is made of soap!

Pudelskern refers to a quote from Goethe‘s drama Faust: So this, then, was the kernel of the brute!Goethe‘s quote Das also war des Pudels Kern! entered German language meaning to find the core of a thing – the gist of the matter.

We are fans of Pudelskern – you too?
