Exhibitions 29. July 2011

Boyoyong.

A posting from Poetry Café

Do you really know what movement is all about? That’s exactly what renowned Japanese architect, Jun Aoki, in association with Mongoose Studio, much-feted for their experimental forays into ethereal realms of industrial design, intends to explain through his elevating and enriching exhibition titled, “A Study in Boyoyong.” The exhibition, which is emblematic of stability in instability or dynamic stability, is all set to leave visitors motionless at the Okamura Garden Court Showroom from the 26 July through 12 August.

The intriguing nature of the exhibition can be gauged from the name, Boyoyong, essentially an onomatopoeia that reverberates with the sound of bouncing water balloons.
The thought that led to this ambitious project was to unravel the mysteries of motion of soft-shell, flexible objects. The exhibition will witness the merger of 8000 polypropylene rings in order to give a more definite understanding of the Boyoyong phenomenon. And just in case you want to get a feel how Boyoyong is created – make sure you see the YouTube videos posted by the architect and the studio.
